Everyone has furniture in their home and it always seems to get dirty no matter how hard you try to keep it clean it gets dirty. Many people think upholstery is easy to clean, just apply water and rub it a little and it will be fine but that is the biggest mistake you could make when it comes to cleaning you upholstery. Daryl Olsen, owner of Advantage Chem-Dry explains why water can be the worst thing for you upholstery and the proper way to clean your upholstery.
Synthetic Fabrics
100% Synthetic fabrics are safe to be cleaned. Upholstery that is made from synthetic fabrics tend to be cheaper and not as nice as upholstery made from natural fibers.
Natural Fibers
Natural fibers are the hardest to clean because more can not be cleaned with water. Rayon, is the worst fabric for shrinkage, if water is applied it will shrink and ruin the furniture, Rayon is a synthetic fabric (man made material) but it is made from all natural materials.
When it comes time to have your upholstery cleaned it can save you more time, money, and stress if you hire a professional. The cleaning tags on your upholstery could say clean with water and it could be wrong, it is better to be safe than sorry your favorite piece of furniture was ruined.
